Gurmeet Jamwal honoured with second Kavi Rattan Rang Samman

JAMMU, Dec 1: Gurmeet Jamwal, a senior most theatre artist of the Union Territory was honoured with second Kavi Rattan Rang Samman here today.
Gurmeet has acted in a number of plays produced in J&K as well as outside Union Territory and is bestowed with number of awards in various categories. She is also recipient of many best actress awards in different annual drama festivals conducted by Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages.
‘Kavi Rattan Rang Samman’ was launched by Nutan Prayaas Manch last year to pay tribute to Kavi Rattan a legend and founder of modern theatre in Jammu. This award is presented every year to the most talented theatrist in the field.
Family members and admirers of Kavi Rattan were invited on the occasion.
Arvinder Pal Singh, additional secretary, JKAACL, guest of honour, president NPM Shashi Kiran Bedi, director Anuroop Pathania and celebrated playwright and theatre director Vikram Sharma presented the award to Gurmeet Jamwal.
Documentaries on Kavi Rattan and awardee Gurmeet Jamwal were also shown which was followed by a solo performance by Gurmeet Jamwal based on her three plays – Andha Yug, Pratibimb and Khamosh Adaalat Jaari Hai .
Kavi Rattan Rang Samman comprising a plaque, shawl and citation was presented to her. Vote of thanks was presented by Sanam Sudan.
