JAMMU, Dec 23:  Setting a trend of declaring the results of annual drama festival without much delay, Aziz Hazni, Secretary, Jammu and Kashmir Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), announced the results of 14-Day long annual drama festival held at recently up-graded / renovated Abhinav Theatre, Jammu, here last evening.
Participated by around 500 Jammu theatre enthusiasts including onstage actors and off-stage technical experts such as playwrights, script writers, directors, set and costume designers, make-up artists, musicians, sound and light designers, the performances in Dogri, Punjabi, KashmirI and Hindustani staged in the annual drama festival were adjudicated by a panel of three judges comprising of noted theatre personalities like Moti Lal Kemu, Mushtaque Ali and Suresh Sharma.
Natraj Natya Kunj’s presentation ‘Blood and Beauty’ has been awarded as Best Production while plays Pratibimb and Antigone staged by Pancham Theatre and Samooh Theatre have been awarded 2nd Best Productions respectively.
The Best Director award went to Abhishek Bharti for ‘Blood and Beauty’, the award for Best Set has gone to ‘Dana Socho Tey Sehi’ by Society for Environment, Education and Modern Art. Awards for Best Light design has been bagged by play ‘Pratibimb’, Best Makeup and Best Costumes have gone to the play ‘Antigone’, while for Best Music to play ‘Blood and Beauty’.
Senior actress Gurmeet Jamwal has been awarded as Best Actress for her role as Aurat in play ‘Pratibimb’ while Mukesh Bakshi has been awarded as Best Actor in role of Wazir in Blood and Beauty. Award for Best Child Actor category had gone to Tatvagaya Bhargav for his role of little Gandhi in play ‘Mein Zinda Hoon’.
In category of consolation prizes, Ifra Kak has been awarded in Direction for play ‘Pratibimb’, in Make-up to play ‘Ek Aur Birbal’ presented by Bharti Kala Sangam, for Costumes to play ‘Blood and Beauty’ while the play ‘Ram’ by Bhoorang Foundation has been awarded for Music.
The 2nd Best Acting awards in male category to Dilshad Ahmed and Deepak Sharma for plays ‘Keshavleela and Ramrangeela’ and ‘Thar Link Express’ respectively, the 2nd Best Acting awards in female category to Barkita Thakur for play ‘Dana Socho Tey Sehi’ and Meera Tapasvi for play ‘Thar Link Express’.
Merit Certificates have been awarded to Ajay Sharma as Babu in Pagal Lok, Sushmita Banerjee as Chanchlo in Blood and Beauty, Kanika Sharma as Antigone in Antigone, Amit Dabgotra as Sevadas in Pagal Lok, Ayan Ali as Fandi in the play Fandi, Tovin Kumar as Comrade in play Kala Suraj, Aparna Kapoor as Stree in Kala Suraj and Rajni Bhatti as Birbal’s wife in Ek Aur Birbal.
