Coldest day of season in Srinagar

SRINAGAR, Dec 23: Kashmir valley is reeling under intense cold with day temperature plummeting to season’s lowest at 4.1 degree Celsius today and the fresh snowfall on the mountains led to closure of Mughal Road.
The hills of Kashmir including tourist resorts of Gulmarg, Pahalgam and Sonamarg received fresh snowfall while plains, including Srinagar, continued to shiver due to bone chilling cold.
Srinagar recorded lowest day temperature of the season at 4.1 degree Celsius today while the previous lowest day temperature of the season was recorded at 5.8 degree Celsius on December 13. The minimum day temperature of Srinagar was recorded at minus 0.3 degree Celsius while previous night temperature was recorded at 0.1 degree Celsius. The coldest day temperature in Srinagar so far was recorded on December 21 when it dropped to 5.6 degree.
The minimum temperature at Pahalgam in South Kashmir today settled at a low of minus 6.3 degree Celsius and the day temperature of Pahalgam settled at 3.2 degree Celsius.
The famous ski-resort of Gulmarg recorded minus 11.4 degree Celsius and the maximum day temperature settled at minus 2. 0 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Kupwara in North Kashmir went up by over four degrees from the previous night’s minus 1.0 degree Celsius to settle at zero degree Celsius. The maximum temperature of Kupwara settled at 5.6 degree Celsius.
Kokernag town in South Kashmir recorded the minimum temperature of minus 2.3 degree Celsius, while Qazigund settled at a low of minus 0.2 degree Celsius. The day temperature of Kokernag settled at 5.2 degree Celsius and that of Qazigund settled at 2.0 degree Celsius.
The minimum temperature in Leh settled at minus 11.3 degree Celsius and the day temperature settled at minus 0.4 degree Celsius.
The temperature in Kargil town settled minus 10.5 degree Celsius. The day temperature settled at minus 1.2 degree Celsius.
Gulmarg today received several inches of snowfall while Sonamarg recorded one feet snowfall. The plains of Kashmir received rains.
