Gurezi reviews rehabilitation of affected people

SRINAGAR, July 31: A whopping amount of Rs 234.75 crore has been paid as land compensation to the people of Gurez and Bandipora affected due to the construction of 330 MW Kishenganga Power Project (KPP) near Kralpora in Bandipora.
This was disclosed in a joint meeting of senior Government functionaries, authorities of NHPC and representatives of the affected families of Gurez convened by the Deputy Speaker, Legislative Assembly, Nazir Ahmad Khan Gurezi, to take stock of the measures initiated for rehabilitation of the people affected due to construction of the Power Project.
The meeting was informed that a total land of 5052 kanals have been acquired by the National Hydro Power Corporation at Gurez and Bandipora for construction of 330 MW Kishenganga Power Project at Bandipora due to which 607 families have been affected.
It was also given out in the meeting that 185 families of twin tehsils have been fully affected and the concerned agencies have paid full compensation to them on account of loss of their land and property.
The meeting was informed that an amount of Rs 213.00 crore have been paid to the affected families of Gurez while as Rs 21.75 crore have been paid the affected families of Bandipora so far.
Principal Secretary, PDD, Deputy Commissioner Bandipora, General Manager NHPC, Sub Divisional Magistrate Gurez, senior officers of Revenue Deptt and representatives of the affected families attended the meeting.
