JAMMU, Nov 14: Voicing concern over the growing unemployment among the educated youths in the state, the former Union Minister and MLA, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has stressed the need for deep look into the matter and the measures to rectify the wrongs, which are resulting to a difficult situation.
Responding to the complaints of unemployed youth and the situation getting aggravated with each day passing, Prof. Gupta said that the lack of industrial growth and inadequate measures for exploiting the vast potential of tourism in Jammu areas can be taken as two major concerns.
For the industrial growth, he said the sense of separatism and semi-separatism is the major hurdle for investment in this part of the country by the industrialists.
Prof. Gupta pointed out that as per official figures the number of unemployed in the State, which was recorded at 1.6 lakh about five years back, has now gone up to over 6 lakh. The Government schemes are falling short in mitigating the woes of the unemployed. He recalled that even the election promises in this regard are not being kept by the ruling parties although they had promised so many jobs and also subsistence allowance in case of unemployment, he added.
Complaints about discrimination against Jammu in the matter of recruitment also needed to be sorted out, he said.
