DFCO seals 158 unlicensed drug stores

JAMMU, Nov 14: The Drug and Food Control Organisation sealed 158 un-licensed and un-registered drug sale outlets across the state.
Commissioner Secretary, Health and Medical Education, Manoj Kumar Dwivedi said the step was taken to implement the orders of High Court in letter and spirit.
“We have strictly implemented the orders of the Court that no un-licensed and un-registered drug sale outlet be allowed to function in the State. The department has been ensuring that no such establishment is operational,” he added.
He further informed that nine stores in Jammu, two in Kathua, five in Samba, fifteen in Srinagar, ten in Ganderbal, four in Bandipora, twenty one in Budgam, twenty in Baramulla, four in Kupwara, nineteen in Anantnag, nine in Kulgam, fifteen in Shopian and twenty six in Pulwama have been sealed so far.
Controller, Drug and Food Control Organisation, Satish Gupta said that some of the owners of there establishments have approached the authorities concerned for unsealing their premises citing change of business and the matter has been referred to the Advocate General, for the opinion.
