JAMMU, Mar 3: Speaker Legislative Assembly and MLA, Gandhi Nagar, Kavinder Gupta today visited Sunjwan, to take the stock of ongoing works and kick started Macadamization of roads in the area.
While undertaking a whirlwind tour of the area, he was accompanied by the officers of district administration, PWD(R&B) and PHE Department along with political workers & other prominent citizens.
The locals expressed their gratitude to the Speaker for taking up this work on priority as it was a long pending demand of the area and they have faced lot of hardship due to the ignorance by the Ex-MLA of Gandhi Nagar.
En-route a large number of people met the Speaker at Bhathindi Morh, Sunjwan Chowk and Adarsh Enclave and demanded up-gradation, widening and Macadamization of roads besides improvement in basic amenities including replacement of old electric poles, installation of water pipes, blacktopping and tiling of the internal links.
The people also raised issues pertaining to the medical facilities, up-gradation of playground in GHSS Sunjwan School, proper drainage system, Culverts and adequate number of water tankers for the area.
Responding to demands of the locals, he said that he is aware of all these issues and has already initiated the process of addressing them. He said that the work on blacktopping of the road from Bhathindi Morh via Sunjwan upto Chatta has already been sanctioned and will start very soon.
Directing the PHE Department to supply adequate number of water tankers till the work of laying new pipelines gets started, he said that 2 lakh out of his Constituency Development Fund (CDF) have been allocated for the development of playground of the school and the work has started under convergence scheme with Rural Development Department.
The Speaker informed the locals that the tenders for construction of surface drains and laying of new pipelines have already been done and are in the final stage and directed the concerned departments to maintain quality and coordination so that the work done by different departments doesn’t gets hamper by the lack of communication between them.
