JAMMU, Nov 20: The former Union Minister of State for Defence, Prof. Chaman Lal Gupta has all the praise for the Security forces in tackling the cross border terror. He ridiculed those who are trying to drag the Army in their nefarious move by dubbing the Generals as war mongers.
Interacting with a group of ex-servicemen, Prof. Gupta said that the Indian Army is a most disciplinary force and they carry the directives and policies of the civil Government unlike in the neighbourhood theocratic Pakistan where the civil dispensation is made to operate at the dictates of the Army.
He alleged those who are attempting aspersions at the General are themselves controversial, saying one thing in power and something else after loss of the chair.
As far as the widows and kins of martyrs are concerned, to look after them, it was not the responsibility of the Army alone but for the entire nation, as they sacrifice for the defence and security of the country. Prof. Gupta added and emphasized the need for exposing the elements who are playing their antics by dragging the Army in controversies to weaken the will of forces to take upon the enemies of peace and unity of the country.
The ex-servicemen had the praise of NDA dispensation at the Centre for addressing the long pending demands of the ex-servicemen especially the issue of one rank one pension but stressed that the State Government should also play their role like other State Governments in helping the families of the men of the forces, especially of those who are martyred in fighting the enemies of the country.
Prof. Gupta also deplored the evil designed slogans of Azadi and that of Autonomy to restore the Pre-1953, position when there was permit system for coming and going out of J&K. There were no jurisdiction of Election Commission, Supreme Court and many other Central laws beneficial to the people of the State. There was despotic rule of NC/Congress. No democracy loving person can think over the return of those black days against which Dr. Mukherji had made his supreme sacrifice and thousands of nationalists led by great leader Pt. Prem Nath Dogra had made tremendous sacrifices to get demolished the barriers between this State and rest of India.
