KATHUA, Oct 5: The irate Gujjars held a protest demonstration at Magar Khar and blocked Jammu-Pathankot National Highway for two hours this evening in protest against the mysterious death of a community youth on NH this morning.
The police however said that the youth was hit by a speedy vehicle at Highway which fled after the accident and the person was shifted to GMC Jammu by the passers by but he died after reaching the hospital.
However, suspecting the foul play the Gujjars of adjacent villages assembled at Magar Khar and staged a protest demonstration. They blocked the National Highway for two hours. They demanded a probe into the death of the youth failing which they will continue the agitation.
To pacify the protesting Gujjars and restore the traffic on NH the ADC Kathua Rashpal Singh, ACR Jitendra Mishra and Tehsildar, Kathua , Avtar Singh visited the area and assured the protesters that the matter will be investigated thoroughly.
The police officers who also visited the area gave an assurance to the mob on behalf of SSP Kathua, Suleman Choudhary that police will order a probe into the matter and whosoever will be found guilty will not be spared. On the assurance of the authorities the Gujjars dispersed and traffic was restored on NH.
