AHMEDABAD : Gujarat government has send 56,000 food packets for the flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir. The food packets were sent last night from the airport here in the presence of Minister of State for Health Shankar Chaudhary, a government release said today.
The food items were collected by NGOs and other organisations. Gujarat Chief Minister Anandiben Patel had yesterday announced an assistance of Rs 5 crore for the flood victims of Jammu and Kashmir.
She also announced that the state would provide one lakh food packets daily for J&K flood victims for five days from yesterday in coordination with the Centre.
Vadodara in the state has also been facing flood situation due to heavy rains which have resulted into increase of the Vishwamitri river level as river water has entered several areas of the city.
