GST to benefit J&K in big way: Dogra

JAMMU, May 22: Additional Commissioner Central Excise, J&K C L Dogra today said that implementation of GST  from July Ist this year is going to benefit the people  of this country and the State Governments in big way.
While interacting with the media-persons at press conference on the implementation of GST and its benefits here today, Dogra said that the Central Board of Excise and Customs has taken the initiative of starting a knowledge sharing programme for the media fraternity about benefits of GST and its implementation across the country.
Dogra said that it is important because correct information needs to be transmitted to all the stakeholders, including general public and tax payers for its smooth implementation.
He informed that in J&K,  they have organised about a dozen GST awareness programs at Kathua, Samba, Bari Brahmana, Gangyal, Satwari, Jammu, Udhampur and Srinagar and by the end of this month,  they will be able to cover Leh, Kargil, Poonch  and Rajouri also. The aim of the GST awareness campaign is to address the doubts/ queries of all the stakeholders including taxpayers and consumers.
A power point presentation show casing the design, main features, administration and IT Network, benefits of GST, likely impact of GST on J&K economy was presented by Prakash Chaudhary, Assistant Commissioner.  He explained the main features of GST Act, followed by its impact on the economy of J&K.
Later, during the question answer session, the doubts / queries  of the representatives of media relating to the salient aspects and implementation of GST were satisfactorily replied by CL Dogra, Additional Commissioner, Rajan Lachala, Joint Commissioner, Ms Shweta Bector, Joint Commissioner and  Iftakhar Ahmed Choudhary, Assistant Commissioner, Central Excise Commissionerate J&K.
