GST in J&K

Sir,
Refer news item ‘Govt to evolve consensus before taking final call on GST’ DE June 29.
Though Goods and Service Tax (GST) regime has come into effect in whole of India, it is yet to take off in Jammu and Kashmir. The delay has occured due to objections raised by several political parties and some Valley based trade organisations. Despite efforts made by the State Government to involve all State political parties in GST implementation, there is no consensus on the subject.
The lack of consensus is going to harm the people terribly as they will be subjected to double taxation. Besides, it will give a set back to business sector. The political parties must understand the urgency of the matter and should not play petty politics over the issue. They should find a way out in the interest of the State. The Government has assured the masses that fiscal autonomy of the State under 370 shall be maintained, and the people should trust the Government they elected.
The State Government  must launch an awareness campaign in the State by putting before the public both pros and cons of the GST regime.
Yours etc…
