Sir,
Teli community is the most backward community in the State. It is a fact that inspite of more than six decades of independence, Govt. has not taken even a single step for the upliftment and betterment of the Teli community. All the successive Governments ignored the genuine and most urgent demands of the Teli community and on many occasions. The Govt. made promises but never fulfilled even a single promise. Eradication of poverty and illiteracy remains the main focus of almost all the Governments, but neither any special package/relief was ever provided to this community. From the last so many decades, the Teli community has been demanding the establishment of a hostel specially for the children of the Teli Community in the Jammu District on the pattern of Gujjar and Bakerwal Hostels.
It may be mentioned here that this community is socially, educationally and economically backward community and is present in all the parts of the State more particularly in Jammu, Samba, Kathua, Reasi,Udhampur and Ramban Districts. The children of Teli community face a lot of difficulties in pursuing their education at Jammu due to non-availability of hostel Facility.
I, appeal to Omar Abdullah, the Chief Minister of the State to set up a hostel for the children of the Teli community at Jammu so that students of the Community can pursue their studies without any problem.
