Grenade lobbed at MLA’s house

Srinagar, Oct 20:  Militants today lobbed a grenade at the residence of a legislator of the ruling People’s Democratic Party in Shopian district of South Kashmir.
The grenade was hurled at the residence of MLA Wachi, Aijaz Mir, in Zainapora village at about 5 pm. The grenade landed in the premises near the security picket, outside the house, and exploded. However, there was no report of any damage to life or the property.

The policemen deployed for security duty fired several rounds in the air following the blast that created panic in the village. Soon after the incident, security forces rushed to the spot and conducted searches.
A Police officer said that no damage was caused due to the mysterious blast. “It was a mysterious blast. We are ascertaining what happened actually. No damage has been reported. But security men posted there have fired several round in air,” he said.
