Grenade defused, searches launched

SRINAGAR, Dec 7: Security forces today defused a grenade in Tral area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district while cordon and search operations (CASOs) were launched in multiple villages of Anantnag district.
Locals found a grenade lying on roadside in Seer Jagir village of Tral today and informed police. Police party and security forces rushed to the spot and summoned bomb disposal squad, which defused the grenade without any loss of life or injuries.

Meanwhile, security forces today launched operations in several villages of Anantnag district after inputs about the presence of militants. The searches were conducted in Dialgam, Laalan and Kamad villages by joint teams of Army, CRPF and police’s Special Operation Group. During the searches, no one was arrested by security forces.
In Pulwama district, clashes erupted between security forces and locals after searches were launched in Trichal village. Acting on information about presence of militants, security forces cordoned off Trichal village this evening and launched searches. However, locals disrupted the operation by pelting stones on security forces.
In the meantime, brother of a Jammu and Kashmir Police constable in Ajas area of Bandipora district, who claimed that he was abducted by militants, reached home at midnight.
Mudasir Khan, resident of Chawan, Gujerpati Ajas told police that he was released unhurt at midnight. Mudasir’s brother Farooq Ahmad Khan is a constable in Jammu and Kashmir Police.
Mudasir told reporters that he had gone to fetch grass along with his friend last evening where militants took him along.
A senior police officer, meanwhile, said they are investigating the entire case. “We are probing the matter and also what Mudasir has said,” he said.
“It is a matter of investigation whether Mudasir was abducted or taken for some other purpose,” the officer added.
