Militants rob bank in Anantnag

Srinagar, Oct 12: A girl sustained splinter injuries after militants today lobbed a grenade towards beauty parlour in Pulwama district of South Kashmir.

A police officer said that militants attacked the “Rani Beauty Parlour” at around 3.45 pm near Rajpora Chowk in Pulwama.
A girl identified as Shubeena received minor injuries and has been hospitalized. The parlour also suffered damage in the attack.
The Special Operations Group of Jammu and Kashmir Police, Army and Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) immediately reached the spot and launched a hunt to nab the militants responsible for the attack. However, no one was arrested.
And in Baramulla, Army and SOG launched a joint operation today following inputs about the presence of militants in Kralhar village, two kilometers from Baramulla town.
Security forces laid siege to Kralhar village of Baramulla, where they said two militants were hiding. The searches were conducted in the village but no militants were found. Sources said that the militants had fled before the siege was laid to the village.
Meanwhile, militants today robbed Jammu and Kashmir Bank in Bijbehara area of Anantnag district and decamped with over Rs 5 lakh.
Sources said that three to four gunmen barged into the Jammu and Kashmir Bank branch at Marhama in Bijbehara this afternoon and decamped with over Rs 5 lakh cash.
Several incidents of bank robberies have taken place in the Kashmir valley over the past two years. Police said that militants are responsible for these robberies.
“Today at about 1444 hours Jammu and Kashmir bank branch Marhama Sangam was looted by armed terrorists. In this connection the preliminary investigation has been set on into motion,” a police spokesman said.
“During preliminary investigation it came to light that banned outfit HM is responsible for this bank robbery. It also came to light that two terrorists of HM Rasik Nabi Bhat alias Owais son of Gh.Nabi Bhat, resident of Nowdal (Kirrman Mohalla) and Salia Mohammed Akhoon alias Rehaan son of Ghulam Mohammed Akhoon, resident of Arampora Gurikadal Medoora, Tral are involved in this bank robbery and further investigation is going on”, the spokesman added.
