LEH, Aug 6: While extending congratulations to the people of Ladakh on granting Union Territory status by the Union of India, the Chairman/CEC LAHDC, Leh, Gyal P Wangyal along with Executive Councillors of LAHDC, termed it as historic decision.
In a press statement today, the LAHDC Chairman said the bill proposing bifurcation of the state of Jammu and Kashmir by Union Home Minister Amit Shah om Monday (August 5, 2019) is a glorious day in the history of Ladakh paving way for the inclusive development of Ladakh in an unprecedented manner respecting the aspirations of the people, which have been subjugated till today.
He said the people of Ladakh welcome this historic decision of the Government taken purely in the interest and the welfare of the people and do away all the wrongs of previous dispensations, said the chairman while expressing his happiness on the historic decision.
The Chairman also extended his heartfelt gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah and all concerns for taking cognize of the aspirations of the people of Ladakh and historic decision for declaring Union Territory status to Ladakh.
He said that people of Ladakh will be indebted to Modi for ever, for giving due attention to the aspirations of the people by fulfilling long pending demands like Ladakh University, demand for Divisional status and our long pending cherished dream of Union Territory status for Ladakh.
Chairman also remembered the most venerable late 19th Kushok Bakula Rinpoche on this historic and glorious occasion and said that the dream and vision of UT for Ladakh has come true.
