Govt urged to bring legislation for protection of orphans

NEW DELHI, Dec 10:
Demand was voiced in the Lok Sabha today for creation of a ‘no-caste’ category for the orphaned children and reservation for those belonging to this category.
Raising the issue during the Zero Hour, Rajaiah Siricilla of  the Congress said children, being brought up in orphanages, were suffering on various counts and facing inconvenience as they did  not have any identity card.
Mr Siricilla urged the Government to bring in a legislation  for protection of this section of the society under the category  of ‘needy children’.
He was of the view that these children should be given reservation in the same way other deprived section of the society were benefitting from such affirmative actions. (UNI)
