Govt, transporters should evolve consensus: AJKPWA

JAMMU, June 29: All J&K Passengers’ Welfare Association (AJKPWA) has urged the transporters and Government to evolve consensus over plying of passengers’ vehicles in the entire J&K UT as the common people are suffering a lot.
In a press statement, president AJKPWA, R C Sharma has suggested the transporters to come out with a soft corner as the prevailing situation is very serious in nature due to COVID-19 and nation is passing through worsened pandemic and the common masses are suffering. He suggested the transporters to show themselves nationalist approach and work with sense of social services and not as a point of business.
He said that during entire life the transporters had served the country with business point of view but the present situation demands they should perform social service and not run after the money. He said that nations has given them everything whereas presently nation is facing crisis due to some natural calamity and it is transporters turn to give back the nation at this juncture.
Sharma asked the Government to come with a suitable policy and grant permission to transporters to ply the passengers vehicles inter-district with some instructions and sanitization at both the ends be made mandatory. He further appealed the Lt Governor to constitute a Transport Monitoring Committee of Transport Department, Traffic police, transporters, All J&K Passengers’ Welfare Association and other stake holders to ply the vehicles purposefully and smoothly. He said that physical distancing should be maintained in passengers’ vehicles and other precautions must be taken.
