Govt to recommend Gojri language for inclusion in 8th Schedule: Naaz

SRINAGAR, Sept 4: The State Government will recommend Gojri language for its inclusion into 8th Schedule of Indian constitution on the basis of its importance, merit and richness.
This was stated by the Vice Chairman (MoS) State Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjar Bakerwal Ch. Bashir Ahmad Naaz at a high level meeting held here today.
Addressing the meeting, the Vice Chairman said that on the basis of demands of the Gujjar Bakerwal community of the State the issue was discussed in the 33rd meeting of State Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjar Bakerwal held under the chairmanship of Chief Minister and it was decided to recommend the case to the Government of India for inclusion of this one of the oldest languages in the 8th Schedule.
Mr. Naaz said that with the inclusion of Gojri language into the scheduled  languages of India it will be developed on modern lines. He impressed upon the officers to expedite the case for inclusion of Gojri language in Scheduled languages on India on priority basis.
The meeting was attended by Commissioner/Secretary Tourism and Culture Atul Dulloo, Secretary Law Ghulam Hussan Tantray, Secretary Academy of Art, Culture and Languages  Khalid Bashir, Addition Secretary Social Welfare  Bashir Ahmad Wani, Deputy Secretary Higher Education  Subash Chibber, Chief Editor Gojri  Academy of Art Culture and Language Dr. Javed Rahi and Secretary Advisory Board for the Development of Gujjar Bakerwal  Latief Poswal.
Mr Naaz said that with inclusion of this richest language into 8th Schedule of Constitution of India the long pending demand of Gujjar Bakerwal community will be fulfilled.
The meeting was told that State Academy of Art, Culture and Languages has processed the case of Gojri language on the basis of its rich heritage, classical literature, folk lore and oral traditions, modern literature, translation work, research and communication. It was further told that the Academy will draft the proposal to be submitted to Chief Minister through Department of Tourism and Culture for onward submission to the Government of India.
