Govt to merge 17 printing presses and redevelop five presses: Jaitley

NEW DELHI, Sept 20: The Central government today decided to merge 17 printing presses and the Union Cabinet in its meeting also decided to protect the “existing working force.
Briefing reporters after the cabinet meeting, Union Finance Minister Arun Jaitley said the decision will help Government get 468 acres of land into the central pool.
“Five presses will be redeveloped and modernised and all existing work force will be retained,” Mr Jaitley said.
“Modernisation of the presses will enable them to undertake important confidential, urgent and multi-colour printing work of the Central Government offices all over the country,” the Minister said adding, the cabinet will rationalise five presses at Rashtrapati Bhavan, Minto Road and Mayapuri in Delhi, Nashik press in Maharashtra and Temple Street in Kolkata.
