Govt to ensure better civic facilities in every locality: Bhalla

JAMMU, Dec 10: Minister for Housing, Horticulture and Culture Raman Bhalla today said that Government is working towards ensuring overall development in every nook and corner of the State, adding that to meet this objective, various projects have been launched across the State.
As part of this endeavour, the Minister today launched Rs.35 lakh development works like construction of lanes and drains besides modernisation of nallah at Nai Nanak Nagar Sector-9 and Shastri Nagar in Gandhi Nagar area.
Mr. Bhalla asked the Urban Environmental Engineering Department (UEED) and Roads and Buildings (R&B) Departments to complete all the launched projects within stipulated time frame by using quality material. He said that an effective monitoring mechanism has been put in place to enforce accountability and transparency in the implementation of the developmental schemes in every district and block level headquarters.
The Minister assured that the Government was making all out efforts to extend every help to the people at their door steps. He asked the accompanying officers of JMC, PHE, ERA, R&B, UEED and PDD to formulate detailed project report to meet the development needs at Nanak Nagar, Shastri Nagar and its peripheral areas.
Responding to the demand of Nanak Nagar Sector-9 residents, the Minister asked the JMC to prepare project for upgradation of dilapidated lanes and drains and submit the same for funding so that the works could be started for the convenience of general public.
Mr. Bhalla asked the JMC officers to depute teams of Safai Karamcharies in the localities for ensuring clean and healthy environment. He said that Jammu city is being developed in all respects to showcase it as a major attraction for the tourists visiting the State. He called upon the people to avoid littering inside the lanes and help in maintaining the place clean.
