JAMMU, Dec 10: Three people were injured when an Alto K 10 was hit by a school Bus at Patoli Brahmana falling under Damana Police Station this morning.
All the three inmates of the car were seriously injured in the accident and they were rushed to GMC for treatment. The driver of the bus fled from the spot after the accident.
Soon after the accident the local people and labourers camping near the road rushed to the spot and brought out the three injured persons from the car and shifted them to Hospital.
According to police the School bus belonging to a private school at Barnai was on its way from Damana to Barnai and after reaching at Patoli Brahmana it hit an Alto K 10 coming from opposite direction injuring three persons including the driver of the car.
The traffic on busy Akhnoor was disrupted for one hour and there was a huge jam up to two kilometers on the road till police swung into action and regulated the traffic on the road.
The Damana police has registered a case in this regard however the driver of the bus was still at large while police has seized both car and bus.
The people of the area have expressed grave concern over the increasing accidents on the road and alleged that failure of the Government to widen the Akhnoor road has been its main cause.
The residents of the area said that despite the fact that number of vehicles plying on this road has doubled during last some years but the condition of the road has neither changed nor any step was taken to widen it though the Government has made announcements many times in this regard.
They said there is huge rush on the road due to mushrooming of private educational institutions and marriage halls on it resulting into daily traffic jams and accidents.
