Govt to appoint new GMC Principal

Srinagar, Dec 18: The Government will appoint new Principal for Government Medical College Srinagar after Dr Rafeeque Ahmed Pampori went on protest leave and sought retirement.
Health Minister, Choudhary Lal Singh told the Excelsior that they are looking for the replacement of Dr Pampori and a deserving person will be appointed as Principal GMC Srinagar. Dr Pampori was retiring last year in February and was given extension.
Dr Pampori went on a protest leave and said that he will seek voluntary retirement from his services. He has written to Health and Medical Education Department for voluntary retirement from February 1, 2016 and requesting leave from today.
Doctors Association Kashmir (DAK) today said that Principal Government Medical College (GMC) Srinagar, Dr Pampori is issuing misleading statements to cover up his wrongdoings and misdeeds.
Terming his protest leave and voluntary retirement as a drama, President DAK Dr Nisarul Hassan said that Dr Pampori is confusing people so that he evades commissions and enquiries for deteriorating GMC and associated hospitals.
The DAK president said that it is ironical that Dr Pampori who is wholly and solely responsible for ruining the premier health institution is blaming others to escape accountability. “Now, when he fears his exit is imminent, he is trying to gain sympathy of people by giving false statements. GMC is in shambles because of his mismanagement and he is responsible for its worsening condition”, he said.
