JAMMU, Aug 16: The 73rd Independence Day was celebrated with traditional fervour and patriotism by Government as well as Semi-Government Institutions across the State.
Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board celebrated the occasion by organizing an impressive function at the Shrine Board’s Sports Complex, Katra, where Simrandeep Singh, CEO SMVDSB, hoisted the tricolour and took salute amidst march-past by the contingents drawn from CRPF, NCC, sports persons undergoing coaching at the Sports Complex, besides the students of various educational institutions.
The students of various educational institutions presented a colourful cultural programme on this occasion while the CEO SMVDSB gave away prizes to those who were adjudged best in the march-past and presentation of cultural programme. The CEO also hoisted tricolour at a function held at the Central Office of the Shrine Board at Katra. Among those present on the occasion were officers and employees of the Shrine Board. Sweets were also distributed among the children.
At Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Narayana Superspeciality Hospital, Kakryal, Dr (Brig) M M Harjai, Chief Administrative Officer, unfurled the tricolour. Medicos and staff of the hospital besides faculty, staff and students of the Shri Mata Vaishno Devi College of Nursing were among those present on the occasion. At Bhawan, the flag was hoisted by Naresh Kumar, SDM Bhawan, in the presence of CRPF, Police and Shrine Board staff.
Independence Day was celebrated by NHPC at its Regional Office, Jammu. A large number of employees and CISF personnel participated in the function, wherein J R Chaudhary, Executive Director, hoisted the tricolor.
Speaking on the occasion, he recalled the martyrs of freedom and advised the employees to work hard with dedication for progress and prosperity of the Nation. He praised engineers and workers for their dedication and hard work for achieving MoU generation targets in J&K Region and called upon all the employees to work with more passion and sincerity for surpassing the generation records.
In Independence Day celebration At Sher-i-Kashmir Police Academy Udhampur, Dr S D Singh, Jamwal (IGP), Director SKPA Udhampur, unfurled the national flag and inspected the Parade.
While speaking on the occasion, Jamwal reminded the history and struggle of the freedom fighters behind attaining the independence. He also praised the services of elite J&K Police force which is considered as the best police of the nation.
On the occasion, Jamwal decorated Kamal Sharma, Chief Prosecuting Officer of Indoor faculty and ASI Swaran Singh of Outdoor faculty with Union Home Minister’s Medal for Excellence in Training which have been awarded to them by the Union Home Minister of India. All the Gazetted Officers, staff trainees, family members of staff, Sarpanch and panches and locals were present on the occasion.
Airports Authority of India (AAI) celebrated the Independence day with traditional flavour and patriotism at Civil Airport Jammu. Dr P R Beuria, Airport Director Jammu, hoisted the National Flag. Staff of AAI, J&K (AHJ) CRPF and various airlines participated in the celebrations.
Airport Director greeted the people on this occasion and recalled the sacrifices made by the great national leaders during freedom struggle.
The Additional Resident Commissioner of Jammu and Kashmir, Yasha Mudgal unfurled the National Flag at J&K House,5 Prithvi Raj Road on the occasion of 73rd Independence Day celebrations. A Contingent of J&K Armed Police presented the Guard of Honour on the occasion. The ceremonial function was attended by all the officers and officials of Jammu and Kashmir posted at New Delhi. Subsequently, the children also presented the colorful programme.
Later, Additional Resident Commissioner also interacted with the officers / officials of the JK House and gave away special gifts and commendation certificates to all the participants.
POWERGRID Northern Region Transmission System -II celebrated Independence Day by organizing Flag hoisting, cultural and sports programmes at all its establishments across the Region. At its Regional Headquarters, Grid Bhawan, Jammu, J P Singh, Executive Director, NRTS -II, unfurled the National Flag in the presence of senior officials, employees, their families and children.
In his brief address, Singh urged upon the employees to continue to serve the organization with dedication and sincerity for the overall development of the Nation. He called upon the children to excel in whatever field they jump into so that the country may scale new heights in development and prosperity.
On the occasion, various cultural programmes were presented by employees and their family members in which national fervor and patriotism was showcased. The reports of celebrating the Independence Day at all site offices in the Region comprising states J&K, HP, Punjab, Haryana & UT Chandigarh were also pouring in.
Independence Day was celebrated at Chenab Valley Power Projects [P] Ltd (CVPPPL), Corporate Head Quarter Premises , Jammu, with traditional gaiety and fervor .
Raheela Wani , Cheif General Manager took the guard of honour and unfurled the National Flag. She recalled the sacrifices made by our great leaders in achieving independence of India . She also shared the progress of construction activities at projects and called for dedication, sincerity and Hard work to complete the project on time. K K Goel , GM (Fin) also spoke on the occasion.
Salal Power Station celebrated Independence Day with zeal and enthusiasm at Ramlila Ground Jyotipuram wherein a large number of employees, CISF Personnel, family members, school children and locals participated. Himanshu Shekhar, Chief General Manager, Salal Power Station, hoisted the National flag while Vanita Shekhar was guest of honour on the occasion.
Speaking about NHPC and Salal, Shekhar hoped that Salal Power Station, owing to the dedicated efforts of Team Salal, shall continue to touch new heights in future also. He also assured better facilities for the employees and students.
On the occasion, all the office buildings were lightened, giving a festive look to the Power Station. Cultural programs presented by KV students and Playway School kids were liked by one and all. The program concluded with prize distribution among the participants of cultural programmes and march past.
Dulhasti Power Station also celebrated Independence Day at Admin Block of Dulhasti, Kishtwar, wherein a large number of employees, CISF Personnel, their family members, locals and school children participated. Yoginder Kotha, Head of the Power Station, unfurled the National Tricolor and paid homage to the martyrs of freedom struggle who sacrificed their lives for the sake of the independence.
He also said that other than core business of generating power, Dulhasti Power Station was equally concerned about its social responsibility towards the people in and around the Power Station and has been doing various developmental activities in the sector of health, education, Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Skill Development and rural development etc under CSR Scheme of NHPC.
On the occasion, various cultural and national unity related programmes were performed by the children and employees of the Power Station. Suresh Kumar, General Manager (E), Dr Nisha Sharma, General Manager (Medical Services), R K Sahani, Commandant CISF Unit, Senior Officers, members of Unions and local people were present there.
On the occasion of Independence Day at District Jail Jammu, Justice Tashi Rabstan inaugurated ‘Jail Products Display Unit’ within the Amphalla Jail and thereafter attended a cultural programme that was presented by the prisoners. Vice Chancellor University of Jammu Prof M K Dhar, Principal & District Sessions Judge Jammu Vinod Koul Chatterji, in the presence of DGP Prisons V K Singh, witnessed the programme. 600 odd inmates and large number of prison staff and CRPF personnel also witnessed the event besides family members of some of the prisoners/inmates.
DGP Prisons V K. Singh, in his address, underlined the recent steps being taken for the improvement of Prison administration, welfare of prisoners besides increasing cultural activities and vocational training. Justice Tashi Rabstan urged the prisoners to occupy knowledge skills available in prison and select at-least one activity to keep themselves busy so that they feel no hindrance in their social re-adjustment once they are released.
Jail Superintendent Mirza Saleem Beig highlighted the activities going on in the Prison while Roshan Lal, Assistant Superintendent, Kanchan Sharma, Female Head Warder, Kavita Mahajan, Pharmacist, Khadum Hussain, Warder and Himanshu Gupta local student artist were awarded cash prizes besides Commendation Certificate Class-1st for their contribution to Prison Administration.
At the Central Jail Jammu, Kotbhalwal, National Flag was hoisted by Dinesh Sharma, Senior Superintendent Jail. Officer Commandant CRPF E&G – Coy. 121 Bn, along with CRPF Personnel and Jail staff, were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, a colourful cultural programme was presented by the Jail inmates, who displayed their talent in poetry, singing and dancing. A Bara Khana was organized for the participants and sweets were also distributed among Jail staff and inmates.
Aaykar Parivar Udhampur celebrated Independence Day at Income Tax Office, Udhampur where the National Flag was unfurled by Income Tax Officer, Durga Kaul. It was followed by National Anthem by the audience.
The function was attended by Rajeev Gupta, President Income Tax Bar Association along with its members, Ravi Malguria (President Chamber of Commerce) and Jatinder Vermani (President Beopar Mandal). Besides them, prominent citizens and tax payers of Udhampur also attended the Independence Day celebrations which witnessed patriotic songs. Kids and children were offered sweets and chocolates.
Independence Day was celebrated in District Jail Kathua where I/C Superintendent Jail, Madan Lal hoisted the National Flag. All the Jail officers, officials and CRPF officers and CRPF personnel of 121- Bn F-coy District Jail Kathua, were present on the occasion.
On the occasion, a colorful cultural programme was presented by the Jail inmates, CRPF personnel and Jail Staff. Sweets were distributed among the participants, including jail inmates. Bara Khana was also arranged for Jail inmates in the evening as per the provisions laid down in the jail manual.
Government Railway police (GRP) Katra celebrated Independence Day by organizing an impressive function in GRP Lines Katra. Ranjit Singh Sambyal, SSP GRP Katra, hoisted the Nation flag and this was followed by singing of Nation Anthem by the officers/officials .
Appreciating the working of officers and officials of GRP Katra who have been deployed at the Railway Stations and on the Track for the safety and security of the Railway system, the SSP advised the GRP Personnel to perform their duties with same dedication and devotion for the nation in general and for the Railway system in particular. SDPO Railways Katra/Udhampur, all SHOs of GRP Katra , I/C PPs and other officers of GRP Katra attended the function.
Indian Institute of Public Administration, J&K Regional Branch, celebrated the Independence Day in the IIPA complex by hoisting the National Flag. Major attraction of the programme was the participation of the differently abled children of Sahyog India, R S Pura.
The Flag hoisting ceremony was followed by reciting of National Anthem and remembering the great sacrifices of martyrs. Entire programme was organized under the guidance of Dr Ashok Bhan, former DGP, J&K Police and Patron IIPA, J&K Regional Branch. Prominent members from IIPA, Sahyog India and civil society also participated in the programme.
