NOWSHERA, May 22: Condemning Pakistan for violating ceasefire and resorting to unprovoked firing from across the border, senior BJP leader and Education & Tourism Minister Priya Sethi today said that Government was seized of issues confronting those migrating from border areas and is extending every possible help to them to ensure their safety.
During her visit to camps set up by the district administration and while interacting with local BJP leaders besides officials of district administration, Priya Sethi said over hundred officials have been put on tenterhooks to ensure that minimum basic facilities like food, electricity, water and shelter is provided to migrants and efforts are also afoot to ensure resumption of classes for school children so that their studies do not suffer.
While interacting with affected families, Priya Sethi also listened to their grievances and issued on spot directions to the officials to address the same. She told the migrants that both state as well as Central Government are aware of the situation and there is no paucity of funds when it comes to helping them.
Now that people, away from their homes are suffering, Government is abreast of their problems and doing its bit to make available all necessary articles of daily use in five rehabilitation camps set up for 12 affected villages where in about 583 families comprising 2313 souls are residing. “Our prime concern is safety of people and studies of children for which Government is planning some alternative arrangements at Nowshera, Manjakote and Doongi areas”, she asserted.
Earlier, Priya Sethi gave a patient hearing to migrants and asked administration to clear bottlenecks that are affecting relief and rehabilitation operations in the region. During her visit to Poonch, she held a meeting with officials of Education Department which was also presided over by Pardeep Sharma, Member Legislative Council in which she laid emphasis on imparting training to newly appointed teachers, lecturers, masters and DDOs with focus on primary education and accountability of DDOs and Education Officers.
