Govt schools draw blank as 113 students share top 10 positions

JAMMU, Apr 7:  Tall claims of providing well qualified staff and infrastructure to Government schools notwithstanding, not even a single student from Government run educational institutions figured in 113 students, who shared top 10 positions in Middle Standard Examinations of Jammu district, which was declared today by District Institute of Education and Trainings (DIET).
Kashin Brij Khajuria of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal topped in the exam with 249 marks out of a total of 250.
Shiv Mehak Bakshi of Conventary Scholars Chinore, Preeti Manhas of Naveen Vidya Mandir Paloura and Yashorma Sandal of Dreamland Public School Janipur got second position with 248 marks.
Five students shared third position with 247 marks. They included Meghna Sharma and Ayush Verma of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal, Pranav Fotedar of Nav Yug HSS Subash Nagar,  Satyarth Pandita of Conventary Scholars Chinore and Akshita Sharma of Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani.
Fourth position went to four students including Amisha Jogi, Animesh Dogra and Rounaq Bali of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal and Kiranpreet Kour of Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani. They had 246 marks.
Eleven students bagged fifth position securing 245 marks. They were Ridhi Gupta, Manisha Bhatia and Sajal Singh of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal, Harsha Nehra of Tiny Tots HSS Roop Nagar, Shivika Dhar and Shivangi Kharoo of Conventary Scholars Chinore, Komal Bhat of Vishwa Bharti HSS Akalpur, Asha Choudhary, Heena Bhardwaj, Josheen Kour and Mridul Dogra of Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani.
With 244 marks, nine students shared sixth position. They included Shantanu Seth of NSK HSS Nagbani Jammu, Suvigya Basnotra and Ashish Sharma of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal, Vivek Manhas of Nav Yug HSS Subash Nagar, Shivya Gupta of Dewan Devi Public School Rajpura, Supriya Koul of Conventary Scholars Chinore, Sameeksha Gupta and Harpreet Kour of Dreamland Public School Janipur and Varun Magotra of Shiksha Niketan HSS Jeevan Nagar.
Nineteen students shared seventh position securing 243 marks.
They were Avantika Rajput of Oriental Academy, Vereash Chander and Keshav Kakkar of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal, Sheefsli Mangotra, Jatin Zadoo and Shagun Sharma of Nav Yug HSS Subash Nagar, Abhishek Singh Banyal of SSM Jammu Public HSS Sarwal, Rajat Pandita of Conventary Scholars Chinore, Renu Kumari of Raina HSS Paloura, Himani Bhasin and Sehar of Dreamland Public School Janipur, Aaina Sharma of JK Montessorie School Talab Tillo, Saraswati Gupta of Bharatiya Shiksha Kender HS Khour, Choudhary Tayyaba of Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani, Ashia Malik and Aman Sharma of United Public HS School, Balvinder Kour and Mayank Mahajan of Shiksha Niketan HSS Jeevan Nagar.
Twelve students got eighth position bagging 242 marks.
They included Sonali of Raina HSS Chak Seri, Ria Malhotra of Oriental Academy, Puneet Bandral of Nav Yug HSS Subash Nagar, Manish of National Public HS Shiv Nagar, Diksha Raina of Anuradha Mission School Bantalab, Abrar Ahmad of St Peter HS BC Road, Norin Kour, Sagrika Sharma and Vanshita Bhardwaj of Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani, Ayush Sharma of United Public HS School, Kanishak Thapa and Sunil Saini of Shiksha Niketan HSS Jeevan Nagar.
Twenty-two students got ninth position at 241 marks.
They were Sharad Verma of NSK HSS Nagbani, Ashwani Kumar Sharma of Little Rose Academy, Neha Chib, Nancy Baboria and Ram Baldotra of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal, Deepak Kalla of Nav Yug HSS Subash Nagar, Mallika Kapoor and Jatin Singh of SSM Jammu Public HSS Sarwal, Shreya Gupta of Sai Montessori HSS New Plot, Sukanya Pandita and Sajid Hussain of Conventary Scholars Chinore, Meetali Choudhary of DBN Canal Road, Surya Pratap Singh of Ranjeet Memorial HS Barnai, Ritu Choudhary of LSDB HS Ghou Manhasan, Parikshat Singh of KB Public School Gujjar Colony, Arushi Sharma of Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani, Muzammil Yasin Naik, Saima Iqbal and Abid Mian of BN HSS Nawabad Sunjwan, Sonali Sharma and Sableen Kour of Shiksha Niketan HSS Jeevan Nagar and Anuj Raina of St Peter HSS Karan Nagar.
A record 27 students shared 10th and last position with 240 marks including Nikita Shan and Shabnam Kouser of Raja Public HS Bantalab, Shiffali Sharma of Bal V Sec School Mishriwala, Akash Raina of Public HS Mishriwala, Palak of Holy Trinity Convent School Dansal, Sahil Gupta of Shishu Mandir Public HS Digiana, Mushkan Anand and Khushboo Thakur of JK Public School Panjtirthi, Priksha Gupta of Light House Pub School Jammu, Varinda Bhatia of Shangrilla HSS Sarwal, Himanshu Sanmotra, Muskan Sawhney, Nikhil Singh and Rahul of Dewan Devi Public School Rajpura, Peter Prince of Sai Montessori HSS New Plot, Arushi Raina of Conventary Scholars Chinore, Muskan Sawhney of Activity Public HSS Janipur, Simran Koul of Dreamland Public School Janipur, Manish Kerni of Dewan Devi Public School Rajpura, Sarthak Zutshi, Neelakshi and Riya Gupta of St Peter BC Road, Kiran Sharma of Shining Star Academy Muthi, Shahbaz Choudhary of KB Public School Gujjar Colony, Tavleen Kour and Shivani Matyal, both from Carmel Convent HS Kunjwani and Karandeep Kour of Shiksha Niketan HSS Jeevan Nagar.
Out of a total of 22036 students, who appeared in the examinations, 810 secured A1 grades, 2354 got A grade while 3001 took B1 grade, 3600 B Grades, 3806 C grade, 7085 D Grade and 1282 E Grade (Repeaters). 102 students were absent from the exams.
Students scoring 225 or more marks were given A1 grade, those with 200 or more marks got Grade A, 175 or more marks had B1 Grade, 150 or more marks had Grade B and 125 or more marks had Grade C. Students scoring less than 125 marks and passing in four subjects were given Grade D. Students failing in more than one subjects had Grade E (Repeater).
