JAMMU, Oct 30: The Home Department of Jammu and Kashmir Government has quashed the detention of Ranjodh Singh Nalwa son of Gurbaksh Singh, a resident of Talab Tillo, Jammu under the Public Safety Act (PSA).
An order issued by Principal Secretary to Government, Home Department said the Government has revoked detention Order No. 1/PSA/2014 dated 21-4-2014 passed by the District Magistrate, Jammu in respect of Ranjodh Singh Nalwa.
The Government order issued in exercise of powers conferred by Section 19 (1) of Jammu and Kashmir Public Safety Act, 1978 has ordered immediate release of Nalwa.
The District Magistrate, Jammu on the basis of dossier prepared by the then district police had ordered detention of Nalwa in April.
The detention has been quashed as it lacked merits and grounds for passing such an order.
