Govt to prepare fresh list of houseless people: Haq

JAMMU, Feb 18: Minister for Rural Development Panchayati Raj, Law and Justice, Abdul Haq Khan today said that the Government will prepare a fresh list of people who do not own a house so that their case can be recommended to the Central Government for Prime Minister’s Awas Yojna (PMAY)-Housing for All Scheme.
In this regard, the Minister directed the officers of the department to call Gram Sabhas immediately and prepare a list of genuine and deserving families after consulting the people of the respective Panchayats so that the same can be recommended to the Government of India     for grant of funds to them under PMAY for making houses.
The Minister said this while laying foundation stone of various houses to be constructed under PMAY in Samba district. During the tour to the district, many people interacted with the Minister and informed him about the houseless people drop out from the PMAY list.
He appealed to the people of the State to participate in the Gram Sabhas and help the Government in identifying the genuine people who are houseless. He said the fresh preparation of list will help in including the drop outs in the earlier list and will ensure transparency in the list by getting the list approved in Gram Sabhas.
The Minister said the State Government will recommend the same list to the Central Government for grant of funds under PMAY.
Later, Abdul Haq Khan dedicated to the public various roads, culverts and paths constructed by the Department of Rural Development Department under various schemes including MGNREGS in Reasi district.
The Minister was accompanied by Minister of State for Finance and Planning, Ajay Nanda, DC Reasi Reasi Paarsanna Ramaswamy, SP Reasi, ACD Reasi, SDM, BDOs and other senior officers of the district.
He inaugurated more than a dozen tiled roads, culverts and paths at Thanda Pani, Moori, Mani  Talai, Bhangal,  Kotli , Simbal Chdwa.
The roads have been constructed under MGNREGS and generated more than 10 thousand Person Days of work for the unemployed and unskilled youth of the area besides creation of durable assets in the district.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister said the Government is implementing the Centrally sponsored scheme in letter and sprit on ground there by providing employment to the unemployed and unskilled people besides creating durable assets in the villages. He said to construct these assets, Government was able to generate more than 10 thousand Man days besides mitigating the problems of the people by constructing good roads, paths and culverts.
