Govt Polytechnic organizes ‘Standard Writing Competition’

JAMMU, May 15: Government Polytechnic here today organized a Standard Writing Competition in collaboration with Bureau of Indian Standards (BIS). The event was inaugurated by Principal Arun Bangotra.
BIS Coordinator, Rhythm gave brief introduction about BIS, its motive, importance and implementation.
The programme was then carried further under BIS guidelines in which students had to analyze products of any kind for their originality, durability and safety. Students asked various queries about the quality and standards and had an open discussion on it.
After that Standard Writing Competition was held in which 47 students participated.
Mentor of Standard Club, Yogesh Raina, Lecturer in Automobile Engineering conducted proceeding of the programme.
At the end, prizes were distributed among the students by the Principal in presence of BIS Coordinator, HODs and faculty of the institute.
Amit Kumar from Electrical Engg bagged 1st prize; Badal Chouhan of Automobile Engg, 2nd; Nandeep Anthal of Mechanical Engg, 3rd and Uttamveer Singh of Automobile Engg bagged consolation prize.
Vote of thanks was presented by Raj Kumar, HoD Mechanical.
Other present on the occasion were Inderjeet Singh, W/S Superintendent; Sakshi Kapahi, Lecturer I&C; Yogesh Raina, Lecturer Automobile Engg (Mentor BIS Club Govt. Polytechnic Jammu); Itika Sharma, Demonstrator Electrical Engg; Manmohan Singh, W/S Instructor Automobile Engg and Helping Coordinators Ashu Saini, Rajat Kumar and Suraj Parkash.
