SRINAGAR, Dec 8: Calling artisans the backbone of trade in Kashmir, National Conference (NC) leader Tanvir Sadiq today said that the Government is oblivious to the suffering of the people & deliberately ensured that the artisans do not get any relief in the RBI approved restructuring of loans.
“The CM & the FM of the State are so vindictive that even though the floods had totally devastated the artisans the Government still doesn’t feel that it’s their duty to provide some relief to these poor artisans” said Tanvir.
He said it becomes the State’s obligation to ensure that the loans extended to these artisans are waived off immediately. Sadiq who is also political secretary to working president, National Conference, Omar Abdullah, said while interacting with a delegation of artisans of Zadibal.
He said: “Omar Abdullah Government granted loan to artisans as part of a special scheme to boost small-time paper machine units. But 2014 floods shattered their dreams when their houses and working units were devastated in the floods.”
“The poor artisans associated with paper-machie,  shawl, chain stitch, carpet, wood carving are now struggling for survival,” he added.
