JAMMU, June 13: The State Government today notified territorial jurisdiction of the police stations of Anti-Corruption Bureau in Jammu and Kashmir.
There will be a total of six Police Stations of the Anti-Corruption Bureau, an order issued by the General Administration Department (GAD) said today.
The territorial jurisdiction has been notified for the purpose of investigation of offences triable under the Prevention of Corruption Act, Samvat 2006, the Jammu and Kashmir Criminal Law Amendment Act, 1958 and the provisions of Code of Criminal Procedure, Samvat 1989.
Six police stations of Anti-Corruption Bureau included Jammu, Doda and Rajouri in Jammu region and Srinagar, Anantnag and Baramulla in Kashmir region.
However, no police station of Anti-Corruption Bureau has been notified for newly created Ladakh division but the Police Station of Anti-Corruption Bureau of Srinagar will have jurisdiction over Leh and Kargil districts of Ladakh, the General Administration Department order said.
The Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau, Jammu, will have territorial jurisdiction over four districts of Jammu, Samba, Kathua and Reasi while Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau, Doda will have territorial jurisdiction over Doda, Kishtwar, Ramban and Udhampur, the Government order said.
Rajouri and Poonch districts will fall under the Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau, Rajouri, the order said.
It added that the Police Station of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Srinagar will have territorial jurisdiction over five districts, the highest for any of the six police stations. The districts over which the Anti-Corruption Bureau Srinagar will have jurisdiction included Srinagar, Budgam, Ganderbal, Leh and Kargil.
The Police Station Anti-Corruption Bureau, Anantnag will have territorial jurisdiction over Anantnag, Pulwama, Shopian and Kulgam districts while the Police Station of Anti-Corruption Bureau, Baramulla will have territorial jurisdiction over Baramulla, Bandipora and Kupwara districts.
The territorial jurisdiction of the Anti-Corruption Bureau Police stations was notified by the General Administration Department in exercise of powers conferred by Clause (o) of Sub-section (1) of Section 4 of the Code of Criminal Procedure, Samvat 1989 and in supersession of notification SRO 66 of 2019 dates 21st January, 2019.
The Government had set-up the Anti-Corruption Bureau in place of the State Vigilance Organization to give more teeth to the anti-corruption body.
