Govt is working towards goal of reaching an 8% growth rategrowth rate: FM

CHENNAI, Feb 8: Union Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman today said the government was working towards the goal of reaching an eight per cent growth rate.

Inter-acting with the stakeholders including Economists, Academicians and Policy experts on the topic ‘Jan Jan ka Budget (budget for people) here, she said the FDI have increased to the maximum level and the foreign exchange reserves were intact.

”The government is working towards the goal of reaching an eight per cent growth rate”, she added.

Pointing out that introduction of a new system on Income-Tax was a new thought to ease the complications in filing tax returns, she said utmost care would be given to MSME entrepreneurs, for whom a separate cell would be launched to address their issues.

She also promised that the Finance Ministry was ready to help in cases where loans were denied by banks to those who avail loans.

Observing that the budget was prepared to meet the aspirations of the people, improve economic development and provide a caring society, Ms Nirmala said the government’s objective was to keep everyone in the loop, even as the Budget was passed in Parliament.

She said views of all the stakeholders were taken into consideration and included in the budget, which was the longest period for preparation.

She said 16 salient points of the budget were taken from the various stakeholders of rural development and agriculture alone when the budget was being prepared.
