Govt harassing migrants: Cong

JAMMU, Dec 9: Migrant Cell of Pradesh Congress Committee in a meeting here, today held under the leadership of its chairman, Hira Lal Pandita expressed grave concern over the hardships faced by the displaced Pandits from Valley.
The meeting took the Government to task for creating  unnecessary hurdles to migrants in releasing relief and ration and said till date hundreds of times the proofs of identity, residence, bank accounts etc were taken by the relief authorities which it alleged instead of settling the pilling up issues is unnecessarily harassing the migrants.
Pandita said that for last three months the ration has not bee released and every time the relief is not paid in time. The migrants face harassment in seeking State subject certificates and getting the ration cards bifurcated and the authorities instead of looking into these issues are unnecessarily creating other problems.
The meeting warned that Congress will take up the issue to streets in case the Government does not stop harassing migrants.
M N Pandita vice president, Ghulam Qadir Bhat convener, Shadi Lal Pandita co-convener,Chooni Lal Kandi, Kiran Raina  general secretaries, Virender Ganjoo secretary, Bansi Lal Raina and Ramesh Bhat attended the meeting.
