JAMMU, Oct 8: Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), National Executive member, Dr Nirmal Singh, said that Government has failed to provide and use funds equally in all the regions.
He said this while addressing a meeting with the border residents of villages of Mangari and Chechwal at tehsil Hiranagar, district Samba.
He said people are facing hardships in border areas due to lack of basic infrastructural facilities like good education, health and sanitation.
Dr Singh claimed that Border Area Development Funds, which is meant to be used in border areas, was being used by the administration in other parts of the State, violating the spirit of the scheme.
“The people of State along with border are not only affected by arm smuggling and infiltration by anti-national elements activities but also have to deal with special problems arising out of their distinct geographical situation and social economic conditions”, Dr Singh added.
Ranjit Singh, convener, BJP Seema Vikas Committee, said that Government is giving benefits of RAB to the people living on ALC from Akhnoor to Uri and not to those who are living on IB from Kathua to Akhnoor.
Sanjeev Sharma, co-convener of the committee, said that the eligibility of recruitment in armed forces of district Kathua, Samba and Jammu is matric with 45 per cent marks, whereas in other parts of the State it is simple matriculation, which proves the discriminatory attitude of the Government.
