Govt fails to release GPF, gratuity of retirees

JAMMU, Oct: The Finance Department has failed to release gratuity and GP Fund of the retired employees for the last over seven months.
A large number of employees including officers from Education, PHE, SWD, Agriculture, Health and many other departments who have submitted their papers even after April this year are still waiting to get their bills cleared from the Government treasuries. While a meager amount of gratuity was cleared once during this period the GP Fund amount worth crores of rupees of the retired employees has not been released by various treasures for the last about seven months.
A retired employees body in a statement has alleged that they have been waiting for the release of GP Fund. Many employees need the money for the construction/ repair of their houses or marriage of their children but they are unable to get their hard earned money released by the Finance department. They warned to lodge protest before the Saddar Treasury in Jammu if the funds were not released within week.
