JAMMU, July 19: The Government has taken concrete steps to ensure adequate supply of ration, LPG, petrol and other essential commodities in the valley.
This was stated by the Minister for Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution Zulfkar Ali during a meeting convened with the officers of CA&PD Department, oil & gas companies and other allied departments here today.
The Minister took a detailed review of the stock and supply position of the essentials including the daily consumption, dispatch and distribution of gas cylinders in the valley and directed the oil & gas companies to submit a list of district-wise distribution of LPG cylinders in the Valley regularly to his office.
The representatives of oil & gas companies raised the issue of security of their distributors and petrol pumps. The Minister assured them that the district administration has been given instructions to provide adequate security to the distributors, besides, giving priority to the vehicles carrying oil or gas cylinders.
The Minister directed the oil & gas agencies to maintain LPG stock for 21 days in the Valley, besides, ensuring that the petrol pumps remain open from 8 pm to 12 pm in the night. He asked them to ensure that the supply of petroleum and LPG to Ladakh is also not affected.
He further directed them to install GPS system in the trucks to track their position at any point of time. No vehicle would be allowed to lift petroleum products or LPG, without GPS system, he maintained. Similar instructions were given to GM (Operations), SRTC for installation of GPS system in their trucks lifting food grains from CAPD godowns to ensure strict monitoring during transportation.
The Minister also asked the concerned agencies to strictly ensure home delivery of LPG so that consumers do not face any inconvenience.
Later, the Minster also reviewed the allocation, stock position, lifting, supply chain management, automation of fair price shops and tracking system and directed Director, CA&PD Department to ensure cent percent distribution of ration in Jammu, Kashmir and Ladakh by the end of this week.
Director, CA&PD Department GS Chib, JKSRTC General Manager (Operations) Arshad Tramboo, representatives of oil & gas companies and senior officers of CA&PD, Legal Metrology and other allied departments were present in the meeting.
