JAMMU, Apr 4: National Awami United Party (NAUP) has demanded a complete ban on the sale of liquor in J&K.
In a press conference here today, NAUP women wing district general secretary, Shikha Bandral Thakur said that government should ban sale of liquor in J&K as mostly people abuse, fight with their family members and commit heinous crime after consuming liquor.
She claimed that liquor is a curse in the society and “We must come together to defeat this menace.”
Thakur said, if the Government can ban liquor in Gujarat, Bihar, Mizoram, Nagaland and at other places then why not same be done in J&K.
“The BJP led government is now increasing number of wine shops in J&K while earlier the BJP leaders claimed that liquor was destroying our youth,” the NAUP leader maintained appealing to PM Modi and LG Manoj Sinha to not to play with the life of J&K youth and immediately withdraw e-tendering of liquor shops.
Renu Bala, Pushpa Kumari, Anjali, Sapna Verma, Kiran Katoch and others were also present in the press conference.
