JAMMU, Jan 1: The Government employees under the banner of National Old Pension Restoration Front, Jammu and Kashmir held a silent protest here today, demanding restoration of old pension scheme.
On the occasion of new year, the Government employees under the banner of NOPRUF assembled near Press Club of Jammu today and observed black day to mark their protest. These employees also launched a twitter campaign, demanding restoration of old pension scheme (OPS). They strongly opposed the New Pension Scheme (NPS) and demanded that it should be withdrawn.
These protesting employees observed silent sit—in dharna under the leadership of National vice president Mrignayani Slathia and J&K UT president Gulzabair Daing. They were bearing black ribbons/ strips on arms and heads and carrying banners and placards projecting their demand.
Immediately after protest a twitter campaign was launched which was joined and supported by thousands of employees of the J&K UT. The call for twitter campaign was given by National president of the Front, BP Singh Rawat.
Prominent among others who joined protest included- Rajesh Kumar Sharma general secretary, Omkar Singh chief organizing secretary, Secretary Sakoon Munir, Upasana Singh, Jyoti Bandral, Dinesh Rajput, Mohd Amin, Naresh Sanjan, Mohd Azeem Khan, Raman Sharma, Santosh Sumbria, Sapna Manhas, Vikas Sharma, Shafkat Hussain, Phalail Singh, Dheeraj Sharma, Deep Singh and Mahinder Sharma.
