JAMMU, Mar 6: The Government employees including casual, consolidated and other daily rated workers from various departments held strong protest demonstration near MA Stadium here today.
A large number of workers from PHE, PDD, Agriculture, Floriculture, Wildlife, Forest, Soil Conservation, Irrigation, Anganwadi workers and helpers of SWD assembled under the banner of J&K Trade Union Front near Maulana Azad Memorial Stadium, just closer to Jewel Chowk and started protest demonstration at around 11 am today. They were shouting slogans in support of their demands.
J&K NTUF leader Mohd Gafoor Dar and several other trade unionists addressed the large gathering and strongly criticized the PDP-BJP Government for its failure to address the pending issues of the employees and workers. They alleged that Govt was just buying time and was not serious in resolving the genuine and just issues of the employees. They said that Govt was forcing the workers to resort to the agitational path.
They were demanding immediate release of pending wages of PHE and other workers, framing of regularization policy as announced by Govt, release of pending honorarium of Anganwadi workers/ helpers and also enhance the same as hiked by Punjab and Harayana States, also increase their promotion quota up to 80 % for the posts of Supervisors, stoppage of merger proposal of ICDS Migrant Project with Jammu region, early conduct of DPC of various cadre, enhancement of Medical allowance of employees and pensioners and enhancement of daily wage rate of the workers.
Prominent among others who addressed the gathering included Ravinder Kumar, Molvi Nazir Ahmed, Vikramjeet Singh, Yash Paul, Joginder Paul Sharma, Rattna Devi, Mushtaq Ahmed, Barkat Ali, Raj Singh, Peeran Ditta, Irshad Begum, Swarna and Kewel Krishan.
