KATRA, Jan 30: Accusing the National Conference (NC)- Congress Government of neglecting the areas not represented by alliance MLAs, BJP National Executive Member & J&K chief spokesperson, Dr Jitendra Singh said here today that Katra-Reasi area is also suffering from discrimination on this account.
Addressing a meeting of party workers, Dr Jitendra Singh said, Katra is not only an international destination of religious tourism but has, of late, also emerged as an important trade and business center, and therefore, it is the responsibility of the State Government to address Katra’s local grievances and apprehensions, particularly in the wake of certain recent controversial decisions by the administration.
Dr Jitendra Singh said, the BJP has decided to go to the people with Narendra Modi’s slogan of “vote for India” and at the same time, highlight the neglect of the region suffered on account of Coalition Government’s Kashmir-centric priorities, It is an irony that despite the existence of Salal Hydro-Electric Project, the twin towns of Katra and Reasi continue to suffer from frequent power-cuts, while the condition Katra-Dumel and Katra -Reasi roads is also poor, he added.
Maintaining that people are craving for change, Dr Jitendra Singh said, BJP is the only option before the voter to get rid of mis-governance, corruption and dynasty rule of Congress. In J & K, Congress was playing a second fiddle to separatist-friendly parties simply to stay in power, he added.
The meeting was held as a part of BJP’s election preparatory exercise to discuss the management of polling booths and composition of Booth committees. Among those present at the meeting were Col (Retd) Uttam Singh, Party vice president and Prabhari for district Reasi,MLA Reasi Baldev Raj Sharma, State secretary Kabla Singh, district president Ajay Nanda, Katra Mandal president Ajay Baru, Sheel Maangotra, Shashi Gupta, Ramesh Sharma and several others.
