JAMMU, Apr 26: Panun Kashmir (PK) expressed serious concern that difficulties are being created in the election process of the Kashmiri Pandits due to which the community has been denied the right to vote over the years.
The procedure of the filling of M-Form before the community people are able to cast their votes is a highly flawed, discriminatory and cumbersome exercise and has resulted in altogether denial of the right to vote for a majority of the displaced Kashmiri Pandits, PK president, Virender Raina said while chairing a meeting of the organisation here, today.
He said this needs to be corrected on a priority basis as it can have long term ramifications resulting in voter imbalance in the State and particularly in the Kashmir Valley. Virender Raina added that Narendra Modi Government policy that “talks and terror can not go together” and the cessation of the LoC trade would bring Pakistan to its senses. P K was all along of the opinion that narcotics and fake currency was being pushed in the State to fuel session and terrorist violence, he added.
The meeting was also attended by Prof. M.L.Raina advisor, Kamal Bagati, general secretary(Org), Upinder Kaul general secretary, Sameer Bhat, convener PK Youth, Ashok Chrungoo, treasurer, Kalhan Kachroo, secretary, PK Youth, Kundan Raina, R.L.Dhar and others.
The meeting began by offering condolences to all those who lost their lives in the recent terror attack in Sri Lanka.
Raina said that as a result of dwindling employment opportunities in the State the younger generations are forced to move and as a result the elderly are left to fend for themselves. PK is working on building a “social security architecture” for the elderly population of the community and would roll it out in the days to come.
Prof.M.LRaina, advisor, PK, said that BJPs clear, categorical and unambiguous stance that Article-370 and 35-A would be scrapped is heart warming for the entire nation and particularly for the vast majority of the nationalist people of the State.
Upinder Koul said that Kashmiri Pandits are the victims of genocide and ethnic cleansing in Kashmir. He added that KPs are the “indigenous people” of Kashmir and have the first and the foremost right over the territory of Kashmir. A separate Homeland in the North and East of Kashmir with free flow of Indian Constitution would alone meet the aspirations of 7.5 lakh displaced Kashmiri Pandits, he added.
