ANANTNAG, Dec 20: Minister for Rural Development and Panchayati Raj, Ali Mohammad Sagar today said that the Government is committed for ensuring an era of unprecedented development in the State and also ensuring the democratic decentralization of the powers to the grass root level so that people are involved in day to day governance.
The Minister was addressing a huge gathering after inaugurating a model village at Jablipora village of Qaimoh block of Anantnag here today coming up at an estimated cost of Rs 1.12 crore.
Minister for Social Welfare, Sakina Itoo, Legislators, Dr. Bashir Ahmad Veeri, Abdul Majeed Bhat, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag, Dr. Farooq Ahmad Lone, Director Rural Development Department, Altaf Ahmad Mir, senior citizens, public representative and large gathering of people were present on the occasion.
Mr. Sagar while speaking on the occasion said Government led by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has worked for restoration of peace, tranquillity and took sincere efforts to safeguard people’s rights by introducing landmark laws such as RTI and PSGA besides to create employment opportunities for youth several welfare schemes like HIMAYAT, UDAAN, and UMEED have been introduced. He said that the Government has ensured better road connectivity, adequate drinking water facilities and launched new power projects during the last about five years which have started yielding encouraging results on the ground.
Mr. Sagar said that the process of development would continue to be on accelerated pace and in missionary mode in all three regions of the State. He said besides devoting fullest attention on the comprehensive development of Jammu and Kashmir in all the regions and sub-regions equitably, we worked sincerely for creating an atmosphere where all the issues could be addressed politically through the process of dialogue.
While referring to the false propaganda of certain political parties, the Minister said that people are well aware of their political mechanizations as they have always believed in negative politics and self promotion and misleading the masses for attaining power. He said that they have got frustrated by the achievements registered by the Government and are now trying to flout obnoxious ideas and spread canard.
Ms. Sakina in his address said that development of backward and remote areas has remained under active consideration of the Government during the last about five years and various schemes to improve and upgrade road communication, water supply, electric supply, health and education sectors received focused attention besides creating number of job opportunities for youth under various innovative measures.
She said that Government has left no stone unturned for the people prosperity for launching number of development and welfare schemes.
