ANANTNAG, Sept 25: Reiterating the commitment of Government for overall development and welfare of people of the State, Minister for Roads & Building and Parliamentary Affairs Abdul Rehman Veeri said that various schemes have been launched in this regard.
The Minister was speaking at a function organized here today by the Rural Development Department to distribute cheques among beneficiaries under Indira Awaas Yojana (IAY) and Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM).
MLA Kokernag, Abdul Rahim Rather was also present on the occasion.
The Minister distributed cheques worth Rs 77.19 lakh among 205 beneficiaries under IAY and Rs 12 lakh among 100 beneficiaries under Swachh Bharat Mission (SBM). These included 38 from Anantnag Constituency, 64 from Bijbhehra and 103 from Kokernag as second and third installment for construction of dwelling units year 2013-14 and 2014-15 under IAY.
Similarly, the Minister distributed Rs 12 lakh among 100 beneficiaries of Anantnag, Kokernag and Bijbehara Constituencies for construction of individual household latrines under Swachh Bharat Mission (Gramin)
Directing the officers to be pro-active in taking the development to the grass root levels for the benefit of people, the Minister asked them for initiating awareness campaign to sensitize people about various State and Centrally Sponsored Schemes launched for their welfare. He also asked them to reach out to people and remain available for redressal of their grievances. He also asked them to make sure that people do not face any inconvenience with regard to availability of essential services.
Among others, Deputy Commissioner, Anantnag Dr. Syed Abid Rashid Shah, senior officers of district administration, besides large number of locals were also present on the occasion.
