Govt betrayed industrial entrepreneurs: SSIA

Excelsior Correspondent
JAMMU, Mar 21: Small Scale Industries Association (SSIA), Digiana has alleged that Government has betrayed the first general industrial entrepreneurs of small scale industries in many respects.
In an emergency meeting of the SSIA held here today under the chairmanship of  Jatinder Aul, president, the members expressed serious concern over the urgent issues like non-availability of un-interrupted power supply  in the Industrial Estate denial of ownership rights to the sons of the soil and shabby condition of Digiana Industrial Estate managed by the Directorate of Industries.
While referring to the new industrial policy 2016, the members termed it as betrayal with the sons of the soil. They also opposed the handing over of this industrial estate to SICOP. They said this Industrial estate was set up in 1959 and was funded by Govt of India. The shedsa were allotted to the local unit holders and it was also told that the ownership rights of the shed will be given to the unit holders on the hire purchase basis after the start of production but till date no such order has been issued despite several requests. Rather it was handed over to the Directorate of Industries and now to the SICOP as per new policy.
They alleged that due to non-availability of uninterrupted power supply the units are facing lot of problems related to production. The Government despite its order of providing 24-hour  power supply has failed in its commitment. The request of SSIA to set up dedicated grid station for Digiana Estate was not entertained. The members also expressed concern over the non-availability of subsidy of DG sets to the unit holders.
There is urgent need to improve infrastructure at Digiana Industrial Estate as the roads/ lanes and drains are in shambles. There is no proper  street/ lane lights. During heavy rains there is massive water logging in several areas. Old power infrastructure is also needed to be upgraded. The condition  of the Estate is needed to be raised urgently, they maintained.
Anil Modi, general secretary, Parveen Jain secretary and Sanjay Chopra treasurer also spoke on the occasion.
