Govt allocates more than Rs 60-cr housing subsidy for workers registered with LWO : Dattatreya

NEW DELHI:  Minister of State for Labour and Employment Bandaru Dattatreya today said that the Government has allocated Rs 60-crore 95-lakh and 54-thousand under housing subsidy for workers registered with the Labour Welfare Organisation (LWO) for construction of houses during financial year 2017-18.

   According to its scheme, the Government will provide Rs 1,50,000 to each worker for constructing his/her house  who was engaged in Beedi making, Iron Ore Mines, Manganese Ore & Chrome Ore Mines (IOMC) Limestone Ore Mines, Dolomite Ore Mines (LSDM) /Mica Mines and Cine Industries, the Minister said in a written reply to a question in the Rajya Sabha here.

    The amount will directly be transferred to the bank account of the beneficiaries in three installments, he said.

    According to the Minister, 8000 houses are proposed to be sanctioned this year, while construction of houses in next financial year depends upon the allocation of the budget.

    Ministry of Labour & Employment has released guidelines for the Revised Integrated Housing Scheme (RIHS), 2016 for workers, Mr Dattatreya said.
