Governor releases “Vishwamurtivaibhawam”, 2 other Sanskrit books

JAMMU, Dec 4: Governor N.N Vohra participated in an Abhinandhan Samaroh to felicitate Prof. Vishwamurti Shastri, former Principal of the Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jammu. This function was held today at the Government College for Women, Parade.
On the occasion, a large volume titled “Vishwamurtivaibhawam”, which is a compilation of felicitations for Prof. Shastri from leading scholars and eminent persons who remained closely associated with Prof. Shastri and his works, was released by the Governor.
The Governor also released two other books titled “Sanskrit Sahitya Shastre Gunvivechanam” and “Sahitayak Nibhandha” written by Prof. Shastri. In “Sanskrit Sahitya Shastre Gunvivechanam”, the author has discussed varied “Gunas” existing in the Vedic, ancient and modern Sanskrit literature while “Sahitayak Nibhandha” is a compilation of literary essays on alankars, rasa, riti etc. found in the Sanskrit literature.
The Governor observed that sound education is crucial for societal stability and for the growth and development of the nation and  Prof. Shastri has made an invaluable contribution by imbuing his students and younger colleagues with high ethical values. He also thanked Prof. Shastri for his continuing help to the development of Gurukul established by Shri Mata Vaishno Devi Shrine Board and his help, whenever required, to the Shri Amarnathji Shrine Board.
Complimenting Prof. Shastri for his endeavour to promote Sanskrit language, the Governor lauded the author for his years of hard work in writing these researched volumes which will be of high value and considerable interest to the scholars working in the arena of Sanskrit literature. He observed that such well researched works are of great value in the enrichment of the language and wished Prof. Shastri many more years of fruitful literary endeavours.
Earlier, Prof. R.D Sharma, VC, Jammu University; Prof. Govind Panday, HoD Department of Education, Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Agartala; Prof. Ramanuja Devanathan, Principal Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Jammu; addressed the gathering.
The welcome address and a vote of thanks were presented, respectively, by Prof. M. Chander Shekhar, Principal Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan, Mumbai and Prof. Bharat Bhushan Sharma, Principal Government College for Women, Noushera.
Prof. Renu Goswami, Principal GCW Parade was present on the occasion.
