SRINAGAR, Oct 24: Governor, N.N. Vohra, Chancellor of the Sher-e- Kashmir University of Agricultural Sciences and Technology- Kashmir (SKUAST-K), today inaugurated the Research Centre for Residue & Quality Analysis (RCRQA) established at Shalimar Campus of SKUAST-K.
The RCRQA has been established for providing testing facilities and analytical services to agricultural producers, agribusinesses, individuals and Government agencies. The three laboratories comprising RCRQA are: Pesticide Residue Laboratory, Soil and Plant Tissue Testing Laboratory, and Quality Testing Laboratory for Pesticide Formulations. This Research Centre has been notified as a State Referral Laboratory by the State Government.
The Governor went round the Laboratories and interacted with the staff on the job. He was briefed about the analytical services to be provided by the Research Centre, which includes quality testing of pesticide formulations, pesticides residue and veterinary medicine analysis in various food matrices, mycotoxins in agricultural produce, soil and plant tissue analysis of all nutrients, trace level elemental analysis of water and agricultural produce. The Governor advised the Director of the Research Centre to maintain extremely strict standards and ensure provision of quality services.
The Governor also inaugurated a Guest House (Kirkichoo House) at the Shalimar Campus and the Student’s Facility Centre, a Library and the Boys Hostel (Iqbal Hall) for Post Graduate students at the Shuhama Campus.
The Governor went round all the buildings, inspected the facilities provided therein, and discussed future infrastruture extension plans for the University with Dr. Tej Pratap, Vice Chancellor, SKUAST-K. Rakesh K. Gupta, Principal Secretary to the Governor was present on the occasion.
