LUCKNOW Jan 24: Governor of UP Anandi Ben and Chief Minister Yogi Aditaynath inaugurated the 3-day celebrations of UP’s birthday at Avadh Shilp Gram here today. The Deputy Chief Minister Dr. Dinesh Sharma alongwith other senior ministers and top bureaucrats were also present on the occasion.
The three day celebrations will include exhibitions on the history of the state, various cultural programmes and competitions. On this occasion, Yogi laid the foundation stone of Atal Residential School to be dedicated to 18 different divisional headquarters of Uttar Pradesh. In these schools, kids of labourers together with destitute kids will be given free schooling.
On the occasion the prominent sports person, artists and small entrepreneurs of state were honoured. A special exhibition on Lord Ram has also been organized, focusing on Lord’s travel to various parts of the country. It may be mentioned that Uttar Pradesh came into existence on January 24, 1950. During the British rule, the state was known as United Province.
The three day celebrations include a special program to mark the 150th birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi that will culminate with a musical programme on January 26. The idea of celebrating January 24 as UP Diwas had been put up by former UP Governor Ram Naik in 2017 and this is the third consecutive year when celebrations are being held.
On the eve of UP Diwas, CM gave a message of ‘zero tolerance against corruption’ and suspended 13 officers on corruption charges. Thirteen officials of the Badaun treasury have been suspended and departmental inquiry has been ordered against them for non-compliance with stamp manual and laxity in work.
At the same time, Yogi ordered to take severe action against the insurance company which has been reluctant to give insurance claims to the farmers. The Chief Minister has suspended three senior treasurers working in the Badaun treasury for the embezzlement of Rs 5 crore and ordered an inquiry. In the same case, 10 officials of Tehsildar level have also been suspended and a departmental inquiry has been ordered against them.
Yogi Adityanath also ordered the release of Rs. 174.97 crore for the construction of the access road and protective works on the river Ganga between Alipur Barwara and Sahaswan (Badaun) of Kasganj district. In addition to this, administrative and financial approval has been ordered to release Rs 6.56 crore for the entire revised cost of the project at Rs 16 crore for the construction work of non-residential buildings of District Basti Collectorate.
