Governor, CM greet people on Diwali

JAMMU, Nov 12 : Governor N N Vohra and Chief Minister Omar Abdullah today extended warm greetings to the people on Diwali, the festival of lights and prayed for their well-being and prosperity.
In a message of felicitations, the Governor observed that this festival symbolizes the triumph of truth and righteousness over falsehood and of good over evil, highlighting the high values and ethos of the country’s great civilization.
The Governor hoped that the celebration of this festival will strengthen communal harmony, brotherhood, amity and secularism, which are the hallmark of our glorious composite cultural traditions and be a harbinger of peace, progress and prosperity in the State.
In his Diwali message, the Chief Minister referred to the tradition and heritage of Jammu and Kashmir in celebrating festivals and holy occasions in an atmosphere of amity and brotherhood. He expressed the hope that this trait of the State would be further strengthened adding that the sharing of happiness and joy adds colour to the celebrations of happy occasions.
The Chief Minister expressed the hope that Diwali will be herald of peace, prosperity and progress of the State and the country and harbinger for love, amity and brotherhood.
Meanwhile, on the eve of Diwali, a function was organized at Raj Bhavan this evening in which Mr. Vohra and Usha Vohra, First Lady, celebrated the festival with staff of the Governor’s Secretariat and security personnel. The event organized in the magnificent lawns of Raj Bhavan made the auspicious occasion a memorable one for the participants.
The Governor and the First Lady, extended Diwali greetings and offered sweets to all those assembled on the occasion. They interacted with all members of staff of the Governor’s Secretariat and the security personnel and wished them and their families well-being and prosperity.
Navin K Choudhary, Principal Secretary to the Governor, was present on the occasion.
